Basser Undergraduate Researcher, Summer 2020

Ruslan Al Jabari

My current work at the Hadly Lab is focused on assembling a record of the past 200 years of climate history of the San Francisco Peninsula. I plan to construct a timeline based on correlated data from climate maps at various locations in the Bay Area, incorporating analysis of El Niño and La Niña years, and weather/stream flow station data. In clearing up data ambiguity and providing a clear template of change over time, this work will help support a variety of lab research into climate impacts on local plant and animal communities.

I look forward to more deeply characterizing the ecological context in which the lab operates. Doing research about a place where one resides is an important way to truly know where you are. There’s power in being able to see and feel the things you research in real life.
